One example of its use is when the text in the last column of a |tabular| environment is set with |
|; then || can be used to indicate the end of a row of the |tabular|, whilst |
| will indicate the end of a line of text in a paragraph within the column. This command can be used in the |array| environment as well as |tabular|, and also the extended versions of these environments offered by the array and longtable packages in the tools collection.
